Next in from the abyss...The Okinawa Chromis, (Chromis okamurai). This species is one of the rarest Chromis species in the aquarium trade and is incredibly difficult to obtain. Hand collected by technical rebreather divers deeper than 100m (330ft). Unique Fins is the first retailer to bring this species into the United States aquarium trade and this specimen is likely the first or one of the first ever collected alive. The Okinawa Chromis is normally found between 100-175m (330ft-570ft). According to fishbase, the maximum length for this species is 9.4 cm (3.5in), the one we received is a little under 2". Our Okinawa Chromis is currently feeding on small pellets and frozen mysis shrimp. The price for this species is well into the 4 figures and is a must have species for a serious collector.
