Next in from the Abyss....
The Abyss Triggerfish! (Rhinecanthus Abyssus) which is the Holy Grail of all triggerfish, found at depths exceeding 300 feet in the wild. Although we are currently not fully aware of the full distribution, we know this species occurs in Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
We are the first to acquire this species in North America, collected by our deep-water team in Indonesia at just shy of 100m. This species has only ever been collected a handful of times and only sold twice to our knowledge, in Asia.
We are super excited to have this species and will post updates as time goes on.
